Albert Waldemar Werner was born in Wloschiza, Germany on December 7, 1937. Albert was the son of Emil Werner and Adela Werner and was eldest of four children - Albert, Otto (Isobel, Jill and Neil), Edith (Butch, Kim and Jason) and Hanne (David). He is survived by his brother, Otto. His father was killed in WW2 and his mother remarried Erich Klose and the entire family emigrated to Canada on December 31, 1950.
He married Mary on June 28, 1969 and he had two children, Lisa in 1973 and Kristian in 1974. Albert was fortunate to be papa to six grandchildren - Grace, Erik, Claire, Evan, Ciara and Kate and his greatest joy was spending time with them.
He enjoyed a long and happy retirement from CBC but in later years, especially this one, his life was plagued by heart issues. He was hospitalized four times in the last four months. and passed away peacefully with Mary, Lisa and Kris holding his hand, on July 22 at Scarborough General Hospital.
He always had a smile and was gracious to everyone he met; every day was a beautiful day, no matter what the weather was and he had a very positive outlook on life.
He will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Friends will be received at the Accettone Funeral Home (384 Finley Ave., Ajax) on Sunday July 28th, 2024 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 pm
Mass will be held on Monday July 29th, 2024 at 12:30 pm at St Thomas More Church (2234 Ellesmere Rd, Scarborough, ON M1G 3M9)
In Lieu of flowers, Donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated
