McCormick, Eileen

December 1930 - October 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden, peaceful passing of our mother, Eileen McCormick (nee Ellsworth), 92, of Ajax, Ontario on October 15, 2023 at the Ajax-Pickering hospital. Eileen was born on December 2nd, 1930, in Dominion, Nova Scotia to John and Martha Ellsworth and was one of ten children. Eileen travelled to Ontario at a young age and married her childhood sweetheart Steve McCormick July 13, 1951. Together they settled in Ajax and welcomed twins Brenda and Bruce. She was a lover of animals and raised a host family pets including her most recent cat, Maddie. Eileen loved gardening and had a true green thumb. She spent hours tending to her beautiful flower beds and was a familiar sight on her lawn tractor until she gave up cutting the grass at the ripe age of 90. She was also a very talented seamstress and took pride in her many interior design and sewing projects. The family is comforted knowing Eileen is now reunited with her loving husband Steve who passed away on May 27, 2015 and her sister Jean. Eileen had a special bond with Jean who also lived in Ajax and one was rarely seen without the other at many recreational events they attended together. Eileen is also predeceased by her parents, her brothers Richie, George and Jimmy and sisters Jean and Melva. She is survived by her children Brenda and Bruce (Sandy). She will be missed by her surviving siblings who continue to reside in Dominion, NS: Gertrude, Margaret, Joe and Don (Anne). She is remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Ajax-Pickering hospital who cared for our mother in her last days. Mom, Our days will not be the same without you and you will always be missed... Brenda and Bruce
Celebration of Life Details: Eileen's wishes were to be cremated. Family and friends will be welcomed at Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Ave, Ajax. from 12:00pm until 3:00pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Light refreshments will be served.
As Eileen was a cancer survivor, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
