ROBERT ALFRED THOMAS ROPER (Bob) of Scarborough passed away peacefully on Friday July 12, 2024, at 4:30pm at the age of 79 years old after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Susan Jennifer Roper (nee Pennell) and their four children Andrew (Shannon),Sarah (Dave), Megan (Iqbal), Jessica (Nabil) and their five grandchildren Lauren, Malachai, Aria, Ibrahim and Zamora. Bob was predeceased by his parents William Clement Roper and Margaret Pearl Roper (nee McPhee) of Agincourt, Ontario. Bob spent 44 years working with J.R.Short, Canadian Mills, in Leaside Ont, starting as a millwright and finishing as a manager. When they closed down in 1994 he started building decks, fences, gazebos, he had found his passion. His passion for the outdoors & family was never more evident than the time he spent at our family cottage south of Minden, Ont, where he taught our children & then our grandchildren fishing and searching for frogs, swimming, water skiing, driving the boat, chopping wood, building a fire, roasting marshmallows, the names of the different trees animals & birds. Bob loved fishing, he would spend hours patiently trolling in the boat waiting for a bit. One of his other passions was golf, he loved the weekly golf games and the annual golf trips to Myrtle Beach & Hilton Head with his buddies. One of his other passions was board and card games, especially Monopoly and Euchre. He will be dearly missed by family, friends & relatives.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, July 19,2024 at the Accettone Funeral Home, 384 Finley Avenue, Ajax, Ontario L1S 2E3 from 11:00 am til 1:00 PM
In lieu of flowers the family requests could you make a donation to the Alzheimer's Society of Ontario.
